Questions
Everything you’d ask on the phone.
- How much notice do you need?
- Three days for a plain cake, five for themed or a large single tier, two weeks for anything tiered. December fills first — book that one early.
- How do I confirm a date?
- A 50% deposit holds it. The balance is due on or before delivery. Nothing is charged until you have the written quote and you accept it.
- Do you deliver?
- Across Harare, quoted by suburb — the fee sits on your written quote before you pay anything. Collection from Mabelreign is free.
- What is in the cake?
- Butter, sugar, eggs, flour, real vanilla, proper lemons. Wheat, dairy and egg are in every cake, and nuts are in the kitchen, so I cannot call anything nut-free. Tell me about an allergy in the form and I will say plainly whether I can do it.
- Can I change my date?
- Once, up to 48 hours before, if that week still has room. Later than that the cake is already baked and the deposit stays with the original date.
- Which flavours cost more?
- The Reserve three — black forest, lemon blueberry, lemon poppy — are $5 more because they take longer. Themed work adds $5 on either tier.
- Can you copy a cake from a photograph?
- I will work from your inspiration image and tell you honestly which parts I can match and which I would do differently. I will not pass off someone else's cake as my design.
- Why buttercream only?
- Fresh cream collapses in a Harare afternoon and tastes of almost nothing. Real butter carries the flavour through the crumb and holds all day. It is the one thing I will not change.
